ABB Staying Ahead of Evolving Maritime Industry

9 August 2016 – ABB Staying Ahead of Evolving Maritime Industry The maritime business is evolving very fast and I would like to share with you two videos that highlight how ABB is at the forefront of these changes.

The demand for battery power is growing and we have registered a number of orders in the passenger segment in Scandinavia. Vision of the Fjords is already in operation in Norway and it is demonstration of the important role battery power can play in the passenger segment. However, the speed at which energy storage capacity is progressing means that it can play a role on nearly every vessel, whether it is drill ships, tugs, tankers or ferries.

We continue to leverage greater ship connectivity and our Marine Software plays an integral part in transporting cargo efficiently and safely. Many companies are strengthening their shore side teams and through our Integrated Operations Centers, we work closely with them. ABB’s Marine Software helps Dockwise transport some of the most impressive loads of the seas.

We look forward to welcoming you at SMM where connectivity and energy storage will be major themes. We will also be launching a major new product that will bring tremendous fuel savings for our customers.
